The Jacksonville ACFE Chapter is holding a luncheon meeting at the San Jose Country Club on 5/19/2010 from 11:30am until 1:00pm. The San Jose Country Club is located at 7529 San Jose Blvd Jacksonville Florida.
Our speaker will be James Young, Special Counsel to the Florida Attorney General. He will be speaking about trends in consumer fraud such as debt relief, foreclosure rescues and health care law scams.
James Young currently serves as Special Counsel to the Florida Attorney General. In this role he advises the administration on high profile matters and appears on behalf of the State of Florida in matters ranging from civil rights to complex multistate litigation. He formerly served as the Bureau Chief for the Florida Attorney General’s Economic Crimes Office in Jacksonville where he was responsible for all aspects of consumer protection and economic crimes enforcement, including investigating and litigating violations of the Deceptive and Unfair Trade Practices Act, Civil Rico Act, False Claims Act, Civil Rights Act, Fair Housing Act, and Anti-Price Gouging Act.
Mr. Young received his Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of Florida in 1993 and his Juris Doctor from Nova Southeastern University in 1997. Prior to joining the Office of the Attorney General James spent 4 years as the Director of Global Risk Management and Associate Corporate Counsel for the GEO Group (Wackenhut Corrections) in Palm Beach Gardens. Prior to that, he spent his first three years practicing in the area of insurance defense and insurance coverage litigation.
He and his wife have two young daughters and reside in the Southside of Jacksonville.
